TAD Home Audio's US based design team consists of world class engineers with years of experience in the pursuit of world class audio reproduction.
Andrew Jones – Director of Engineering
Andrew Jones is director of engineering for TAD’s Home Audio Division. Andrew joined TAD in 2000 and has played a crucial role in a number of loudspeakers and components that have been designed and engineered by TAD. The Model-1 Flagship loudspeaker represents the first product from the new Home Audio line as well as the first loudspeaker that Andrew has completely designed for TAD. Andrew’s design genius can be seen in many products under several brand names. However, his inspiration is also apparent daily in the key role he plays for TAD as its senior product designer and team leader. Prior to this dedication to TAD, Andrew most recently spent four years in research and development for Pioneer Electronics Technology where he led a team of audio engineers in the development of numerous loudspeakers. Prior to this, Andrew spent four years as chief development engineer for Infinity Systems, managing product development and testing for their entire loudspeaker portfolio.
Andrew first established his reputation in the audio reproduction market at KEF Electronics where he spent 11 years, first as a research engineer and the last four years as KEF’s Chief Development Engineer. His design prowess and artistic flair remain on display throughout the company’s line of loudspeakers and components. Andrew graduated with a degree in physics from Surrey University and later undertook post-graduate studies from the University of Essex, both in the United Kingdom.
Brett Frank – Senior Design Engineer
Brett Frank is the senior design engineer for TAD’s Home Audio Division where he engineered the design and manufacturing protocol for the company’s new Model-1 Flagship loudspeaker. Brett joined TAD in 2000 in tandem with Director of Engineering Andrew Jones to form a team assigned with creating a new line of high-end consumer loudspeakers. Brett’s experience and talent as a mechanical engineer quickly proved useful in leveraging TAD’s 28 years of innovation and applying it to the new product line. In conjunction with his tenure at TAD, Brett also has spent six years developing product – also working with Andrew – at Pioneer Electronics Technology. Prior to this, Brett spent 11 years as senior designer engineer for Infinity. During his tenure at Infinity, Brett developed the industrial and mechanical designs for more than 100 industry leading audio reproduction components, most while under the tutelage of Infinity co-founder Cary Christie, Sr.
Toru Nagatani – Manager, Design Engineering
Toru Nagatani is chief engineer for TAD in both the Home Audio and Professional Divisions. His engineering expertise has been instrumental to TAD since 1985. Toru’s knowledge and understanding of TAD’s professional products – including the company’s proprietary application of Beryllium – proved vital to the development of the Model-1 Flagship loudspeaker for the high-end consumer market. Since 1985, Toru has worked as a design engineer and later as a chief engineer for TAD, Pioneer Electronics Technology and Pioneer Corporation. During this tenure, Toru’s skills as a designer have been applied in the development of many different audio reproduction components in professional as well as home audio loudspeakers. Toru began his design career in Japan and now works in TAD’s U.S. design center in Pomona, California. Meanwhile, his reach as a design engineer is worldwide as products showcasing his talents are enjoyed in multiple continents. Toru has a degree in acoustic design from the Kyushu Institute of Design.
